- Over 1,000 participants hailing from 42 countries were present at the starting line Friday for the fourth Ultra Trail d’Angkor, a punishing 128-kilometer race through and around Siem Reap’s ancient Angkor Wat Archaeological temple complex.
- Beginning in the early hours of the morning and setting off from Angkor Thom – Elephant Terrace, Spain’s Marc Puig Amiel crossed the finish line with a registered time of 13 hours, 36 minutes and 31 seconds in the full 128-kilometer race.
- New routes saw runners criss-cross varied numerous temples and villages, from narrow paths through dense vegetation, jungle, rice fields, and sandy tracks.
